How should naming [coll] be handled in abstractions, where more than 1 instance may end-up in a patch?

I have an abstraction that needs the same [coll] in 3 places, so I use 3 named [coll] objects. If I name them the same, when another instance of the abstraction is used in the patch, they *all* now share the same contents. '#0' doesn't work, because the names have to by symbols, I guess.

I don't think the 'refer' message solves this...

You can use #0 like [coll #0-myCollName]. It needs to be at the front of the symbol to work.

Hey. Excuse my ignorance but could someone clarify what '#0' actually means? I've read in another post that it'll give the coll it's own ID so as other colls won't reference it but I can't figure out what it actually look like in max. Many thanks.

the #0 argument creates a random (and runtime-wide unique) 4-digit number, so it will be different in every instance of a patch.

just like #7 you can only see what it does and if your patch works, when it is actually in a subpatcher. (it will also work in bpatcher.)

The online and in-app docs should be the same. In either, t's really difficult to search for #0.
