Does anybody here use the [risedevice] object successfully for all parameters in realtime with a Max UI?

My [risedevice] is connected to a Roli Seaboard RISE 49 and I can set parameters and move faders. But if I move a fader on the keyboard, I get no feedback which could update my Max UI. When I constantly query [risedevice], I get the current value of 'pitchoctave' for example, but not for faders. For these I have to bang the [risedevice] first. I don't want to quickly bang all the time because each bang provokes 242 bytes of SysEx from the keyboard.

I fear I have to use Roli's weird combination of SysEx, NRPN and RPN directly, instead of the [risedevice] object, correct?
