3D Object displacement (with texturemap)

Hello everyone, I’m quite new to Max. I’m wondering if there’s a real-time feature that allows me to displace 3D objects in Max (similar to the Blender modifier). It would be great if this feature could also be applied with a (noise-)texture.

I’m planning to create a patch that enables me to displace a 3D scan of myself based on the movement of my hands and fingers. I want to be able to squish and stretch the object accordingly.

best tool for this in Max 9 is the jit.geom.displace operator. Here's a patch based on the help file for that object

Max Patch
Copy patch and select New From Clipboard in Max.

You can right click on any object and select "Open <object _name> Help" to see most common ways to use an object. Additionally, once an object is selected, click the book icon (Reference) in the right toolbar, it will show you all messages you can send to an object and all attributes you can set.

If you're very new to all this, it's good to start with the tutorials. First the Max tutorials (for the basic concepts and uses), and then the Jitter tutorials for the jit. objects.
