5.0.6 available

Includes over 120 fixes and enhancements, described here:

One issue worth mentioning is that if you save coll data in a patcher with 5.0.6, prior versions of Max 5 will not be able to read the data. So if you share colls in patchers with friends, get them to update!

Sweet! Sounds like there's been a lot of 'random' crashes fixed!

Also: "when time value is changed from bbu to non-bbu (raw ticks), it is now unaffected by time signature recalculations when seeking -- this fixes bug where changing a time point from a bbu value to a ticks value retained the old bbu value after a change to the transport time"

I cannot read 'bbu' without thinking 'big booty unit' now.

"Opening a help file a second time will bring previously opened instance to the front."
This is fantastic, thank you.

there were some endianess issue as far as I remember. Anyway that's gone.

I installed the new update. It would appear that duplicate
files are being shown in the file browser. Which is correct,
I do indeed have some duplicate files. But the browser shows them
as all having the same location. It would be nice if it showed me
their respective locations so that I can delete the ones that are
not needed. I am running Vista (SP1).

Great version!

There seems to be a small issue with coll, though.
Open a new patcher window, create a new coll object and open the coll window: two or three random charachters appear on the first line.

I'm not having this problem. OSX 10.5.

Wooo, nice.
Lately had been acquiring crashes to 5.0.5, for an odd time, so happy about this update.
Surprised you have the time to release this since you are spending good time developing Max for Live.

Thanks...

Just a reminder c74 - I know you've got some great stuff on the horizon, and I realize the product is probably insane to maintain as is, but:

Some of us *really* want pluggo to work under 5. More than Live integration, more than well, anything else. Looking forward to checking out the update, but that *one*thing* is a dearly missed functionality since going with 5.

Having max-built instruments and effects (without having to resort to weird audio plumbing) while at the helm of Logic as a DAW/sequencer was best of all worlds for me.

I'm also having weird characters appearing in the coll when I create a new one.

Ex : ˫K
or : +M

Also on a MacBookPro CoreDuo 2.16, 10.4.11...

Besides that, great update. Thanks a lot.

I would like to second that! I would REALLY REALLY like pluggo
support some time soon. I was moving along just great with
Max4/Pluggo and Sonar, now all progress has stopped. Max4Live is
great and all, maybe I will pay the 500+ to get it. But in the
mean time, I have work to do that needs pluggo.

It's terrific all these fixes have been made. But I also would like to politely stress the importance of pluggo.

M4L looks pretty awesome, and while I am fortunate enough to be a Live user and thus be able to take full advantage of M4L, it is my belief that C74 should first foremost look out for users of C74 products rather than Ableton's. M4L was at least said to be released in 2009. Pluggo for Max 5, however, has not received any such projected release date. I feel Pluggo should be receiving more attention - it was one of the main selling points of the MaxMSP environment, and is a feature that is sorely missed in Max 5.

I will also join in, in this asking for a Pluggo date and release.

I too love the fact for the link and interbreeding with Max 5 and Live, i find it great. I am even finally buying Live next week, which i cant wait for. I have been using a friends computer with Live 6 for some time.
But Pluggo is a big player in the field for Max developers who really want to make there creations viable for other formats.

Having a release of Pluggo can then make C74 breathe a little easier and then direct all there brain power to Max for Live. It will save people from always asking and C74 saying 'i'm sorry',
So a Pluggo release would be better in the long run.

I know you are busy, guys, and love what you all do to make our enjoyment of Max 5 all the better, but i think you would agree with the users here, man...

Hi.
Anyone else getting the dreaded spinning beachball for a few seconds upon opening Max without actually doing anything?
Also, I seem to be experiencing a new problem with distorted audio using grooveduck inside poly~, though perhaps that is just bad patching.
Also, crashing easier than I'd expect to with aforementioned patch.
I will start my own thread to diagnose that problem if I haven't figured it out by tonight.

Sorry- forgot to mention:

Agreed. I want to add my voice to the chorus.
I, too, used Pluggos I built in Max/MSP all the time and now have to resort to inelegant, high-overhead solutions in the indefinitely long meantime.
Is this part of some larger strategy to not steal the thunder from M4L?

I had 5.05 previously installed on my Vista machine. When I
install 5.06 it asks me if I want to install PACE drivers.
Is it safe to cancel installing PACE drivers?

Emmanuel Jourdan's icon

I don't really remember if the Pace version changed lately, but it's not unsafe to install it again. I do that all the time.

Rob Sussman's icon

Part of installing 5.0.6 would be uninstalling 5.0.5 which could have removed the PACE drivers. So, I'd just let it do its thing.

Hello,

thanks for all of the fixes.

I too have an issue with coll and random characters.

I am on a MBP1724 and MacOS 10.4.11.

Also, I wonder what the new modern way of editing a coll looks like!

Best,
Marius

You already know that I wait for pluggo for a long long time but I still wait for it. It's just as if I had a perfect instrument and that for an unknown reason it disappeared.
I say again that you should have say that we would have to wait for months and months, maybe I wouldn't be ruined now and without the tool I expected.
It really makes me sad.

Totally agree.....

With all respect and acknowledge of you hard at work-coders...
But still:
Oh, how I miss her, that little pluggo-thing of mine......
