7.1 Surround Set controlled by Max/MSP

Hello,

I want to controll a 7.1 surround card with Max/MSP.
I have heard that it is possible when I install the proper drivers. (ASIO or maybe re-wire).

I have a Dell ‘Dimension 9150’ computer. With a Sigma Tel STA9220 integrated Audio module.
Does any one has the right drivers or knows where I can find them?
Or does anyone has an other solution to control a 7.1 card with Max/MSP?

Please let me know!

Thanx,

Thijs

I have no idea if this will work, but you could try the ASIO4All drivers
http://tippach.business.t-online.de/asio4all/
and in general google for
"asio driver sigmatel"

I tried to expose my built-in Realtek 5.1 sound card to MSP a while ago and had no success, but I haven't tried the asio4all yet, and even if they worked, I don't know if you would be able to get all outputs exposed to Max.

It might be overkill, but I did use vbapan~ to output to a 5.1 system.
It required supplying angles and distances to each of the 5 mid/hihg
range speakers and creating a crossover patch to pull ot the bass
frequencies. the angles and distances can either be the "ideal" ones
for 5.1 or the ones you are really using (as in my living room).

MaxObjects seems to need updating for the location:

is where I found it.

Wonder if it works with the dual core Intel Macs....
