a good midi controller?

Dear users,

can you suggest a good midi controller for max?
It would be better if the midi-controller supports 14-bit control values.

best,
prko

oh oh... your looking for traditional midi controllers...

big keyboard CME UF series controller which is discontinued but I would assume their newer ones are just as good

Also digging that cheap akai MPK they have in all the guitar centers these days

I don't know about the newer models but the novation SL series had all the control values ramped. meaning that when you turned the knob from 127 to 0 really quickly it would give you 127, 120, 100.... 0 REALLY ANNOYING. other than that they were perfect but I sent mine back because you couldn't do anything rhythmic on it.

no problems with the padkontrol yet.

On of my favorites: Doepfer Regelwerk although it is not manufactured anymore .
If you do find one look for the last os , since upgrading these involves eprom replacement.

The newer ones although cheaper, feel quite cheap.

I own the mpk49 , if you are looking for a keyboard.
It is very well built, has horrible keybed action and the pads are a hit and miss affair. I'd also suggest staying away from novation , because of what Audiomatt mentioned

my personal favorite is at the moment the CME BITSTREAM 3X. ist a classical midi controler, built very solid with a wide range of programmable features and some extra goodies like a built in arpeggiator and automation functions. But i guess at the end it's always a matter of budget, taste and purpose...

My favorite is the Remote SL61:

8 pads, 8 knobs, 8 rotary encoders, 8 faders, 32 buttons,
xy control, joystick, and transport control.

Anthony, That looks like a later model. Did they fix the thing I mentioned above? I would be so down if that was the case...

where do you want to use it for?
I still love thebcf2000

very reliable, never had any problem with it. fully programable,
also for 14 bit (only the knobs, if you like knobs, check out the bcr2000)
motorized faders...
but...is max capable of 14 bit cc? I thougt not, only pitchband.

greetings, Yurki

I think that probably CME BITSTREAM 3X would be the best, but expensive.
Thanks

Evolution UC-33 is an affordable and handy one. I am using it since 2005 without any problem.

If the uc-33 had quiet motorized faders and endless encoder knobs it would be my favorite midi controller. as it is now it is just barely not enough for my needs..... now maybe two : )
