Acquiring address while using 2 wii remotes
Hey y'all! So lately I've been working on a project that involving using two wii remote controls and I've ran into a problem but let me fill you in. I am using a max object called ajh.wii remote which is taking all of the information via Bluetooth and then routing all of of the information info Max. I have had no problem syncing up two wii remotes independently but I can only do this because I have already found out the addresses while I have been constructing this patch. The problem I've run into is how do I then route a wii mote that I do not yet know the address of? I know I can setup my Bluetooth to find it but I am trying to make it as easy as possible since it is geared towards kids. So in essence I want it to be as simple as possible so it has a plug and play feel. Does this make sense?
To my experience, the best is to use OSCulator (http://www.osculator.net/). I have used it for many hours without any disconnections. While ajh is a good improvement over aka.wii, OSCulator is the only reliable solution in my opinion. Once you have registered all of your wiis (up to 8), they will be given an unique number that you can use in your patch (example : OSC-route /wii/1).
I gree Osculators works best and support up to 4 wiimotes
First off, thanks for the response!
I have used OSCulator to do it (and I agree its the easiest way to do it) but do you know of a way to do it within max maybe without the object? Its mainly a limitation of a project i'm working on at this point where the system will be used by children and teachers will have to set it up. So i'm trying to make it as simple as possible or only with max to avoid the purchase of OSCulator. Those free trial stoppages do tend to get annoying.
good points. I been using Osculator for years now and I have no complain of this amazing software, You can setup osculator to do start discovering on startup, and if you have old wii ( 2011 and back ) no need of peering first with computer , the peering process could be a pain .
I use to use the aka.wii object works really well for one wii, you can also try the http://darwiin-remote.sourceforge.net/
