AIFF format

I like to take sound files from CDs and run them through Max/MSP. It appears that only AIFF files can run on Max/MSP. Do I have to convert all of my WAV files on my CDs into AIFF files? It takes a lot of space and time. I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a simple way to directly run CD tracks or mp3s on Max/MSP. Thank you.

Best,
John

Hi John
Wav files work fine (unless they're a weird sub-species). Are you on
Windows, by any chance?

I ask, because OS X sensibly just pretends CD audio tracks are AIF
files, so you can just play them through the file system like any other.
Windows (last time I checked), doesn't do this.

Anyway, if you post your patch, more helpful information will be
forthcoming.

[Always advisable to post a patch, and give your system specs when
asking a question ...]

Wave files work fine, unless there is some "strange" compression involved.

How are you trying to play them? Have an example patch?
