My understanding is that it's an interface to allow Max to utilize the built-in speech recognition in Mac OS. I haven't tried it though.

BTW if you have other speech-recognition software it may be usable in Max: I have Dragon Naturally Speaking 8 for XP (about $80), which works quite well most of the time, and it's a listener/text-inserter into wherever your cursor is (any app with text input). So it puts those words into a textarea or text file in Max (or message box etc.) just fine. Put the words into a textarea and bang to compare using a [route], you can then trigger events using words... longer and more complex words, including sentences, work best, since it has more to go on for each word and can utilize grammar rules for sentence context. Very cool, I can't imagine the work that goes into these programs...

N.B. using textarea you need to first [route text] before your [route banana spatula rhinoceros rhododendron] or whatever you're using. You like those trigger choices?? They work! :)
