aka.wiimote installation

Hello forum!
I am running an Intel MacBook Pro with Mac Osx 10.5.2 and Max 5. I'm trying to install either aka.wiimote or osculator so that I can use the WiiMote in Max/MSP/Jitter. I have used aka.wiimote before with Max 4.6 but now I'm not sure where to go to get the correct version. I'm planning on using the IR capabilities with the Wii Sensor Bar hooked up to the Wii for power as if I was going to play video games. Soon I'll solder my own "sensor bar" together but until then I assume this will work. From what I've read the sensor bar is only a row of IR LEDs used for triangulation calculated by sensors in the wiimote, which are then sent to the laptop via bluetooth. Can anyone confirm this signal chain for me and tell me where to download the software I need? Thanks for any advice you can give.

Not even triangulation, that would require three points; the sensor bar consists of two small arrays of ir leds. The wiimote has a built in ir camera that can track up to four points. For this you need to look at the raw ir data. The object most likely is in the database of maxobjects.com. Take also a look at what johnny lee did with the wiimote.

Thanks for clearing that up, but I still have the software issue. I think that both aka.wiimote and osculator haven't been adapted to Max 5 yet. Any suggestions about that? Or do I need to rebuild the audio half of my patch in 4.6 to get the Wii to control it?

BTW I Love what Johnny Lee did, but I would rather not use the wii as a camera because I'd like to use the buttons, roll, etc.

Just a couple of days ago I got it working in 5 (under macosx 10.5.6) with a version of the object dated 22 oct 2007. Hope that helps.

Great, that's good to hear. Did you download it at maxobjects.com? Or some other address? And you install it the normal way right? Just drag the .mxo file into Max externals folder and the help file into the Max help folder? Thanks,

Found it! maxobjects.com - I got a little confused the first time I went there because they said that aka.wiimote was for any version of Max 4. But, installed it the usual way and it works perfectly - even more reliably - on my new computer and in Max 5. Thanks for the help!
