AU Scan from Pluggo Runtime + Jr 3.6 not detecting non-C'74 pluggos
After installing Pluggo Jr 3.6 today the new Audiounit scan, while faster, detects only the C'74 pluggos, and none of my other 46 installed pluggos. It says all is fine, but only the Pluggo Jr. plugs appear in Logic or Rax. Then I thought it might be that pluggos need to be recompiled with MaxMSP 4.6 - so i quickly did that with a simple pluggo of mine - even put '.vst' on the end, just like the new pluggo Jr.s - but the now seemingly near-sighted AU Scan still did not register it. My pluggo does have a uniqueID.
I tried using the AU scan program from pluggo Jr 3.5.1. It completed, but only 6 of my pluggos showed up - a different and seemingly random 6...
I also tried after installing the pluggo runtime 3.6 - no dice.
Any ideas? (My System: Powerbook G4, OS 10.4.7, MaxMSP 4.6.2 and 4.5.7, tried to use pluggo in Logic Pro 6.4.3 and Rax. I do NOT have legacy object support enabled in MaxMSP 4.6)
Thanks,
Arvid
Pluggo 3.6 requires *all* plugins to have been compiled with MaxMSP 4.6.2 ( the latest version out just last Friday ). Mix and match will not work under any circumstances. You will need to contact the original developers of 3rd party pluggo plugins if you wish to obtain updated versions of those plugs for use with the 3.6 runtime.
Try updating your AU component with only 4.6.2-built plugs. If that still doesn't work then please send the patch you are trying with to
support@cycling74.com

You should REALLY mention something about that in the documentation, or on the download page... some of us use 3rd party pluggos quite extensively, and some of those are from authors who are MIA. It may be imposible to replace some of these...

The format of the VST plug-ins (which are scanned by the AU Scan) has
changed radically in Pluggo 3.6 in order to support Intel-based Macs.
The new Universal Binary AU Scan only recognizes Universal Binary
plug-ins. Conversely, the old format AU Scan only recognizes old format
plug-ins.
While it is unfortunate that we had to make this change to support new
computers made by Apple, it sure is nice using Pluggo (and especially
Hipno) on the new machines. The Hipnoscope is amazingly smooth on the
Intel-Macs, IMO!

Cool. Understood. I must have glossed over that part of the readme. Thanks. I am excited about
"- [Mac] Fixed problems where offline processing (bouncing) in Logic did not work"
because I was having that issue. I need to use offline bouncing lot due to the modesty of my machine's G4 processor and logic 6's silly insistence on NOT using any freeze files when bouncing. But, I guess we shall have to wait for other people to recompile their plugs.
However, now that I remove the old style plugs, my recompiled ones do work.
