Audio Interface Control (US800)

Shortly: Is there any way to control the mixer settings of an Audio Interface (Tascam US800 in my example, using OSX) if MIDI control is NOT implemented? What I mean by control is basic input output level controls, not internal routing settings.
Because of the limitations of my studio (bedroom) I have to settle far away from the unit. And using the software mixer is difficult when the screen is busy as you might guess.
Will building a mixer in MaxMSP based on Soundflower 16, controlled by MIDI CCs solve my problem? I've used Max and Jitter alot but not MSP, so please guide me if I'm missing something crucial.
    Thanks in advance.

If you just want basic audio level control, you can simply control its output with a VCA-like gain jobby. This all depends a lot on the specs of the system, which you've shared quite little about, but it's usually doable.
Also, since it has a software editor you could perhaps set up triggerable applescripts to increment/decrement software sliders?

Great idea, its time to learn applescript. thanks.
