audio over multiple videocards?

I've got a client who needs a three-monitor installation, each running various movies, with the audio from each set of movies coming out of their respective monitors. I've been working with a triplehead2go DP, but there isn't audio support across that. I'm looking into getting a PC with multiple video cards, and running three instances of Max, one showing on each card. Will the audio from get funneled to the HDMI outs by itself? I'm a Mac person, and live on a laptop, so I know little about the subtleties of this.... Or will the audio all get directed to the main outs of the computer, and I'm wasting my time even thinking about it?

I haven't tried this but my guess is will by default output all audio through your system's main outputs . is unaware of where its graphic output is being displayed. You'd have to grab each video's audio with spigot and route it to the correct outputs. That's assuming the HDMI audio outputs show up as audio interfaces in Max. Don't know if they do. Haven't enabled HDMI audio on my hackintosh. If they don't the workaround would be the traditional multichannel setup with a USB/FW interface.

triplehead2go and external sound car could be a good option?

AFAIK, if you're using the audio output directly from the, it will get directed to the system output.
if each monitor comes up as an audio output in max's audio status window, you should either use spigot~ or extract the audio into buffer~s and route using MSP.

The problem with using an external soundcard is that I can't send the audio to the monitors unless I use component video out -- I can't send video over HDMI and audio over something else, since monitors these days can't deal with such complexities, and the idea isi to avoid using external speakers above & beyond the ones in the monitors. I suspected I'd need spigot~, but the real question is whether HDMI or DP outputs will show up as an audio out at all in Max.....

      Using VVVV is very easy

Rob: I get what you're saying, but the question is: how do those cards behave? do they appear in the status window? I have no idea, I'm just a laptop user....

Just for the record, I have it on good authority that a video card that supports HDMI or DP will show up as an audio device in Max.
