Audio To And From DAW

Hi,

Is it possible to route audio from Max/MSP both to and from a DAW (Live in this case) using a protocol such as rewire? From what I can see audio only seems to go one way. If not with rewire, is there some alternative? I'm sure I'm not the only one who has looked for a way around this.

Solutions for PC only please :)

Thanks,
John

Yes, it's totally possible.
Check out the Rewire Tutorials on the Cycling 74 website.

That should tell you all that you wish to know.

erm, jammy is wrong.

Rewire only goes one way. JACK is bidirectional.

Yeah that's what I thought, although Jack is not available for Windows unfortunately

yeah, kinda sux0rs. you could get an RME card which supports multiple asio clients, and route the ADAT out to the ADAT input. then, you could have the ADAT out go right into Cubase.

Ah, sorry must have misunderstood the question. It was late!

I think there is a Windows Version of Soundflower in the pipeline

By the way, JACK for windows isn't just in the pipeline - there is actually a working version (jackdmp), although it's still a bit buggy.

It's mentioned on the main JACK page but can be found here:
http://www.grame.fr/~letz/jackdmp.html

I have it running on my machine with no problems so far, Live sending audio to Max, sweet.
