I want to automate an slider with an cycle LFO, and use it to control the amplitude of a signal.

Wow, thanks for the fast replies. I will further investigate this basic patches (not so basics for me). I think the patch C. Muir posts is a great help, but also the tutorials are great!!

once you've got that style of automation working, look at the [mtr] object, lotssss of possibilities there. be sure to get to sleep before the sun rises :)
