Automatic Recording question

Hey there, im looking to be able to automatically record an audio source as soon as it is above an audible range for an electronic performance project i will be taking on for next year. I am having a few troubles figuring out how to make it work, i will upload the file for the project below, and if anyone can give me any tips, i would be more than grateful. I think the problem has something to do with the constant triggering of the numbers from the adc, constantly triggering recording and not progressing past a few milliseconds.

Also, i was hoping that after it has recorded and when recording is triggered again, it would record after the first part. To do this i was using a counter object which i think was working fine, but i do not know how to make an automatic way to trigger this.
