Beautiful 'static' texture
Could anyone shine a light on the sound design/production technique behind the beautiful static like texture that comes in at 4.30. What parameters on a granular synth would create it?
i don't know if this will be helpful, and i could be wrong, but here are a couple of thoughts:
1) it sounds to me like very small grains--perhaps 1-5 milliseconds
2) they seem moderately dense (20-60 milliseconds apart)
3) the grains sound to me as though they may be passed through an envelope that takes the edges off (like a triangle shaped envelope)
4) i am hearing some amplitude variation among them (some louder than others) that sounds relatively random, but creates texture
5) lastly, the quality of the grains produced--their timber, for instance--depends on your sound source. in other words, different sounds will produce grains of different sonic quality when synthesized using the same parameters
again, these are just my thoughts. i am not an expert. and i may not fully understand your question.
