Binding a shader in Lua to jit.gl objects

Hi,

how can I bind a shader inside Lua to a jit.gl.mesh?
my latest try looks like this:

shader = jit.new("jit.gl.shader", this.drawto)
shader.file = "shadername.jxs"

mesh = jit.new("jit.gl.mesh", this.drawto)
mesh.draw_mode = "points"

function draw()
    shader:bind()
    mesh.shader = shader
    shader:unbind()

end

This code is fine, the mistake was elsewhere.
