Bird whistling generator problem I need The Glide to sound less Robotic Help!!
Yeah i'm in the middle of creating a generator that trys to emulate birds whistling. The patch mainly consist of random objects using a range of freq. the amplitude is also random but it doesn't sound right. my problem is that i'm am struggling to get the timing natural, it sounds to robotic. I am only using 5 dsp objects as a restriction, and as im new to maxs i am struggling if some one would be able to help me with any ideas of making the amplitude and timing more natural i would be very thankfull. i can also upload the patch if that helps. cheers
Why the restriction?
I've something here with only 5 DSP objects, but you'll need to show us your solution first . . .
Oh the restriction is due to it being a project at uni. The solution i came up withw as not to use random object to control amplitude but instead use a long message, its solved it a little bit but not as i would have like im still at a brick wall lol my brain feels fried
any ideas ?
post a patch
sounds no different to mine, tbh, not robotic at all
subpatchers, and send/receive, shouldn't have a space character in their names; use_underscore or camelCase likeThis
oh kk thanks have you got any ideas about the amplitude to make it more natural and random, cause befoere it gave me loads of clicks etc
I stayed entirely in the signal domain, using the [rand~] object; if you multiply the output of [rand~] by itself, you get a cheap random curve:
yeah that's really good actually will give it a go tomorrow and post it to ya to have a look when would the result be a cleaner and natural sound than sending a random object into the curve object( with variables)
cause that way it gave me loads of clicks when i sped it up
"cheap"
cheep cheep LOL
