Body Sensors and Max/MSP
Hi
I hope you're all OK. I'm new to this whole max/msp sonic art world...but it looks amazing.
Anyway, I am wondering how I would be able to use body sensors in max/msp. I know that this can be done, but Im just wondering what I would need to buy or build
Cheers
Mark
well you will need some way to take information from your sensors into max. There are lots of products out there to suit all budgets
look at the c74 site
you will probably want to go wireless for use with body sensors so bluetooth systems are available in the arduino and icube systems
All of these systems come with information on how to read data into max and once it is there you can do what you please with it!
two more links:
http://www.sensorwiki.org is a good general overview for available
sensors and interfaces
http://www.troikaranch.org has long been using sensor systems for
dance performances

I've had good luck with the Arduino, though there are a lot of flavors out there. Then you use the serial object to get the data. If you go Arduino you should get Arduino2Max external / abstraction, this will help manage the data nicely. There will be stutter with readings, a lot of possibilities to manage this, would like to know if you find some good options.
Is generally very straightforward. The question then becomes: what do you do with your data?? That's the fun part. ;)
