im trying to instal the bonk~ external but im having real issues, possibly because i have a less than great idea of what im doing. wondering if anybody can give me some help

currently running Max 5.02 on a win XP laptop

ive downloaded the windows version of bonk 1.3 from

ive put the bonk~.mxe file in ....Cycling '74Max 5.0Cycling '74msp-externals

and the bonk~.help file in ....Cycling '74Max 5.0Cycling '74msp-help

when i create a new patch and try to add the bonk object i get an error

the procedure entry point assist_string could not be located in the dynamic link library maxAPI.dll

a bit of help here would be much appreciated

dont like to seem like im being impatient......but i suppose i am heh

im actually finding that im getting the same sort of error with other externals as well.

ive now tried using externals by creating a new folder in the cycling74 folder, putting the .mxe and .help files into there and then adding the path to the list of search paths but it still doesnt work?
