bpm and ms

Hello again friends of the cycle,

I have another kindergarten question for you guys.

Coming out of something like a step sequencer either 16 or 32 step what is the easiest way to find out the exact bpm from the ms of a metro??

I found a patch that converts bpm to ms, however I think it was for something else.

For example when I set my step sequncer at 500 ms at the metro, the bpm should be 120 bpm, but it sounds much much slower. To test I'll put a kick at every 1/4 note and it definitely doesn't sound like 120 bpm. Does it have to do with the spacing of the kick or somfin like that?
