has anyone solved this problem of constant buzzing that max/msp triggers on powerbooks? it's quite annoying and other threads started about it didn't seem to go far in terms of solving the problem.

are you talking about a buzz from the machine itself, or out the sound card? if it's from the laptop itself i think i solved it by setting my processor performance to automatic in the energy saver tab of system preferences. but that's also when i was on MAX 4, haven't had the problem on version 5.

Logic 8 still causes my laptop to buzz however. strange.

thanks for the help! it does seem to help, tho the buzz is still there, just very faintly...

Part of the developers tools is a processor preferences pane, that can additionally be installed. It allows you to turn of napping, which I believe is the primary cause of the buzz. It is a unique feature of the power-processor; Intel doesn't have this.
