Call for Works: Last Friday Listening Room
This upcoming year the UCSD Department of Music will be hosting a series of tape music concerts from noon to 1PM on the last Friday of each month. The Last Friday Listening Room concerts will take place in the Experimental Theatre at Conrad Prebys Music Center, UC San Diego. The Experimental Theatre is equipped with a 51-speaker Meyer Audio Constellation system, and can accommodate pieces in nearly any channel format.
We invite you to submit your fixed media work for inclusion in this series. There is a preference for multi-channel pieces, and pieces under 15 minutes in length (as our concerts will only be one hour), however longer pieces will be considered.
There is no fee for entry, but only two entries per composer will be auditioned. The submission deadline is August 31, 2013, and we will notify you if your piece is accepted. The first concert in the series will be September 27, 2013, and the last concert is on May 30, 2014.
Thank you, Tom Erbe, Zachary Seldess, Elliot Patros UC San Diego

      Is that a fifty-one (51) or a five-one (5-1) speaker audio system?
    • Jul 10 2013 | 9:35 pm
It's a Meyer Constellation system (with speaker placement/type designed for Meyer's variable room acoustics processing (VRAS)).
We should be able accommodate pieces in nearly any channel format.

The deadline on the title is 13th of August, but in the text is 31st of August - I assume the latter one is correct?
Also in what format do you want the pieces? Max/MSP patch, or .wav (for example)?

The title is wrong, sorry. Deadline is August 31, as written in announcement text.

      Hey Zachary,
I sent my application in on the 31st of August - hope it arrived on time, I was in transit and had trouble finding a stable-enough connection to finish uploading the large file.
When/Where do we find out if the piece was selected? Or when the performance will be?
      Thanks a lot! :)

Thanks Laonikoss, and all who submitted. If we program your work, we'll definitely get in touch! First concert is tomorrow (see attachment).
      best, Zachary
