No, it is not too difficult to get this sort of interaction. However, it would be easier to use Jitter for the motion tracking to control the mouse and a browser for the information layout, unless you want to reinvent the wheel. Add a Kinect camera and the whole thing becomes very easy to do.

Is there any in depth information on using a kinect with max/msp/jitter I can check out?

I was thinking if I used the cv objects blob tracking and the new physics objects somehow they might get the job done?

There are some very helpful threads about using the kinect on this forum.

Yes, jit.phys.body is a great way to get this kind of interaction, but is not the only one. The cv.jit library can do most of these tracking methods.

This project could be emulated in jitter; it is just the sort of thing that jitter is good at. However, since the graphics used look exactly like web graphics, it might be best to use jitter (or any other appropriate platform) to do the video tracking and use something for the visuals which is made for that. Flash would be a good choice.

I found a good thread on kinect but I cant find anything regarding how to plug it into the computer.. I saw something through google that said I have to cut the cable apart and wire in a power cable and a usb, is this the only solution or has someone made a cheap hub link solution?

What!? Where did you see this? If you bought the kinect standalone it will have all the cables you need. If you bought it with the xbox you might be in need of the powercable (i believe). Connecting to my computer was the least of my worries, getting the drivers working was a hassle on xp a year ago. Now i use simpleOpenNi on processing which was a piece of cake to install.

(Snibbeinteractive should really pick another name because i keep hearing "infantile")
