Hello, I know this is insane but for this project I am trying to load 1500 short videos of cats into different instances of poly~, each containing a jit.movie @output_texture 1.

The problem is that Max crashes as soon as I load around 1000 instances of poly~. A quick test shows this issue: 

- a subpatcher with one jit.movie @output_texture 1 called "Poly_jit.movieEmpty"

Changing the [voices $1] to 1000 makes Max crash (forever spinning ball). Changing it to less than 956 works fine. 

Max does not crash when output_texture is 0, but I need output_texture 1 for this project. 

Max crashes right away when jit.world is on. When jit.world is off, the instances are created but then Max crashes as soon as jit.world is turned on. 

Also, I've noticed that it behaves exactly the same with GL2 and GL3, hap and viddll video engines.

Any idea of the reason for such a limitation? 

RAM and CPU seem totally fine. I'm using macOS 10.14.6 on a macbook Pro 2018 with a Radeon Pro Vega 20 4 GB, 32GB of RAM, and Max 8.1.0

If someone has an explanation, or an idea of why my insanity has a limitation, I'd be happy to hear about it!

anybody ever tried to load more than 1000 jit.movie objects ?

you could try to make 2 standalones with 750 voices sharing textures via syphon.

should work, if the limit is max not your gpu.
