Can I run Max/MSP as a VST?

Can I run Max/MSP as a VST? I want to design a synthesizer in Max, and play/sequence/record it using Ableton Live 6. Is this possible to do without too many headaches?

Thanks, any help is appreciated

No you can not run Max as a vst. But you can save your
patch as a vst plugin. I think there is a way you can
do it with out pluggo too. Can someone please review this.

For the documentation and tutorials ("Development Materials"), download Pluggo.
For your headaches, depends of your aspirin... hmmm... aspiration! ;-)

Wow, so I can export my projects from Max as VST plugins that people who don't have Max can use?

Is it a big pain in the arse to do this, or is the process streamlined and easy?

Definitely YES, and in 3 formats: AU, RTAS, VST.
But, they'll need to install the Pluggo Runtime, which is free.
That's the same you're using when you load a Pluggo.
(And you don't even need to purchase Pluggo, just download.)

Once built your synth or effect as Max patcher(s), you'll have to define which parameters will be displayed in the interface, and some other things like that. I can say yes, streamlined and easy!

They still need the Pluggo runtime (which is basically a specialised
version of MaxMSP runtime).
