Can Max emulate Keyboard Commands?

Sooooo

I am looking to make Max emulate the up, down, left, right, of my keyboard on my laptop. I have an external controller via midi that i want to use to control live instead of using the actual computer keyboard.

is there an object in max that does that? I am not looking for someone to exlpain every detail, but if anyone knows of an object that would get e started, i would love you forever:) thanx!!

if you're just using the key commands to execute various actions in live, you can map the midi controller directly to the actions without having to use max at all. the manual has the details.

i may be new, but im not that new:)

you can not route midi events to keyboard commands in live. especially not the up down left right keys. you can make those keys do different things in live via the keyboard routing section. however what i want to do is use midi cc buttons to navigate in the clip section, and emulate the return key, so i can move around and launch clips. is this more clear?

as far as i know, this would probably have to involve an external, and i'm pretty sure there isn't one.. yet..

That's right. the java.aw.robot class will let you control the mouse and
keys, but so far I don't think anyone has bothered doing the grunt work.

I might start digging into it as an intro to java for me. Looks doable,
for sure.

I don't know Live, but yesterday I sat beside a composer who did just
that (with a Novation Remote 25SL, there are ready to go templates for
Live)...
Maybe Live has more treasures in the manual than you can imagine?
Depends maybe on the Live version, that was the newest, Version 6...
