Can you hack an Avid Artist Control to use as control panel for a Max patch

Hi,

I'm working on a uni project and want to create a patch that uses an 'Avid Artist Control' as a type of MIDI device, to manipulate parameters . Ive seen this done with PS4, Xbox and WII controllers so would like to know if this is possible? I don't want to use the Avid software if possible as a third party bridge from max, to the physical controller; just seeking to gain controller output data that I can utilise within the patch/program.

I would be most grateful of any thoughts please.

All the best,

Rob

The communication protocol for that is EuCon, I think. It would be possible to reverse engineer, but not easy. You'd want to look at this paper:

Here's a thread where somebody reverse-engineered EuCon for a Reaper plugin:

Good luck!

Thanks Mzed, look forward to having a look at both links!
