Capture Cards with Windows

I am trying to take use a hardware video mixer as an input into jitter running through max 5 on Windows XP. It will use an s-video connection. I don't have a capture card yet, and I've held off on buying one because I've heard there are a lot of incompatibilities with jitter's winVDIG extension.

Does anyone use s-video as an input to jitter, and if so what capture card are you using?

Also I've thought about running the s-video into a camera and outputting through firewire into jitter... if that's possible.
