changing audio outputs
OS X 10.4.7
G4 PB 1.67GHz

Max/MSP 4.6.2
Jitter 1.6.2
Pluggo 3.6.0
- launch Max/MSP
- start a file playing using the sfplay~ object
- open audio prefs
- switch from 'iMic USB audio system' to 'Internal speakers'
- the sound remains routed to the USB iMic
am I correct in assuming that the audio prefs won't switch the
outputs when Max/MSP is routed to a particular output?
e.g., Max/MSP makes calls to CoreAudio to switch outputs but doesn't
pick up calls from CoreAudio?
sorry if this has been discussed already -- I searched my maxmsp list
emails and couldn't find anything w/r/t this issue...

Yes, and its what everybody needs/wants. You'd always prefer to switch
it locally, or wait till you restart the program. Either switch it
within Max, or restart Max...

yes, it does make the most sense...I was just curious since I don't
remember the system audio switching behaving this way in previous
versions
