Clip function "move_playing_pos" not working properly?

Hi all,

I'm using the latest Ableton Live (12.0.20) and Max (8.6.4)

I've been trying to set the playing position inside a clip from Max 4 Live. Although the live.object is set to the correct clip, whenever I throw a "call move_playing_pos 1" to the live.object, nothing happens except the same live.object outputting a "move_playing_pos id 0".

Now, the id that is fed to the live.object is not id 0, but is a valid id from a valid clip. So I don't understand this message, nor the fact that nothing happens. And observing the playing_position at the same time from an adjacent live.observer tells me that the playing_position stays indeed the same.

Getting the playing_position works fine on the same live.object.

This behaviour happens on both audio and midi clips. The "move_playing_pos" function's documentation says: Unwarped audio clips, recording audio clips and recording non-overdub MIDI clips cannot jump. I tried with bot warped and unwarped audio clips, as well as on non-recording midi clips. Same.

Is this a bug, or am I understanding this mechanism wrong?
