Computer hangs when serial connection with bluetooth device is interrupted

I have an Arduino connected to Max over a bluetooth connection and jasch's comport (to replace the serial object). If the connection is interrupted the computer hangs. It goes to to point where even the audio output of another program running in parallel is interrupted.
Is there any way to prevent such hanging ?

I have similar issues (sometimes) using the serial object when unplugging an arduino (uno) having an open serial connection. Couldn't find any solution except taking care to always close the connection first. (running max 6.0.8 and OS X Lion).

Yes until now I have been using the same solution under OS X Snow Leopard whenever possible but sometimes the connection is cut because of unknown reasons.
