Computer specs -> MSP Performance

I'm aware that megahertz is not the only measure of single thread performance. But I also know that unless I explicitly tell MSP to run in multiple threads (incurring latency), I can't use multiple cores etc. I'm trying to figure out how upgrading from a 2009 MBP 2.66GHz will change the performance of typical MSP use, that is just patching without incurring vectors upon vectors of delay since I plan to do live processing of audio.

Any words of wisdom?

I'd really miss this 17" screen.

u know that you can use the help of poly msp to make expensive circuits ready for more than one processor core, so you. it is more a workaround than an all day feature, but a proper solution for certain tasks.

Yes. I do. But in some cases losing a vector to poly~ isn't okay.

2009 is core2duo? dunno I went from 2.4 c2d to 2.2 i7 and i haven't benchmarked but it sure seems like I can run a lot more and it stays cool, fan doesn't come on. don't really know about this turbo boost thing.

tbh, with max i find UI was the biggest CPU suck and use as little as possible. I have noticed I now could be sloppy and get away with more. next os x is supposed to have some stuff to help there even more so...maybe, if it gets used...and graphics card is new enough.

I think gen has a comparison cpu test example between it and msp.
