confused with effect that emulates GRM Shuffing

    I'm trying to design an effect that is an approximation of the GRM Shuffling vst. I've tried to tackle it with a few different granulation patches (granularized, sakonda's granular 2.5) but i think i'm on the wrong track.
    Getting real time processing of a live input is proving difficult, and none of the externals or abstractions i've tried so far seem to have the right flavor. am i looking in the wrong place? could anyone recommend a patch that will get me in the neighborhood. i assume i just need to delay a granular sound then randomly pan the output but i feel like i don't understand the fundamentals of the effect.
