Connection Failed - network server startup error window

Greetings,

I'm encountering an annoyance where upon MaxMSP startup, an OS X modal window appears announcing "The server may not exist or is not operational at this time." This window must be clicked before Max will start up. I seem to recall encountering this issue about a year ago, but cannot recall the solution, and could not find it in the archives.

OSX 10.4.4 MaxMSP 4.5.6

Nope. That was the first thing I checked. Only the defaults (./patches and ./examples) are listed in my File Preferences window. Thanks, anyway.

Removed "Max 4 Preferences Folder" from ~/Library/Preferences, along with all C74 plist files. That did not solve the problem.

Also, check for any unresolved aliases, i.e in help folders,
externals ect.

Don't forget that these are searched recursively. As is max-help. Click
on the Print button at the bottom of the File Prefs inspector, and
*then* start looking for aliases.
