I have found Soundflower to be extremely useful for piping into Pro Tools. When pulling from Skype for interviews, the levels into Pro Tools are far too hot. I have setup the following: Skype>Sondflower 2 ch then set the input for a rack in Pro Tools to Soundflower 2ch. Simple, brilliant- except there is no fader or way to Attenuate the signal between Skype>soundflower>Pro Tools so the signal clips all the way through.

Assuming your using a Mac, if you go to System Preferences>Sound you can adjust your current output/input levels. Or, if you dont want to make soundflower your current i/o, goto Finder>Applications>Utilities>Audio Midi Setup you can adjust i/o levels of all the devices your currently connected to.
