controlling a long buffer with fade in and out and gain control

what are the most pragmatic ways to give a long buffer [say 45secs+] a short fade in and out [to avoid clips at repeats] plus a gain control of -6db

the buffer will be capturing feedback and layering it

I was looking at number~ and the fact you can create a ramp time - but I'm guessing this isn't the best approach?

Hi. Doesn't grooveduck.maxpat do what you need?

It depends on how You "capture".
If Record - Play heads are running all the time
to allow overdub, simply fade audio Input
on every punch in and out.
If recording needs no definite start or end time
than You just start the loop, and overdub into it
using fade I/O.
