Controlling itunes for music and video playback

hey guys
i'm a nebbie to max and im doing a project where i use phidgets (physical controllers) to play and control video files. the phidgets are supported by max so they work fine but im wanting to play full albums and skip through songs from the hdd and also play video in its full resolution, the jit.movie function works well for the movies but the resolution is really bad, also im not sure how to load full albums of songs and play, so if i was able to use max to control the functions of itunes and play a playlist that would be a great option....

any advice would be great.
