controlling quicktime movie playbar with message

I know there's been a couple of posts regarding this, but can't seem to find a solution -
I simply want to be able to trigger the playbar to play and/or stop my quick time movie.

The reason is so i can use playbar to scroll through and show where in the movie I am - but want to trigger the playback from outside the playbar.

does that make sense?

Any ideas where I can find a solution for this?
