Core Audio IN to Rewire OUT

For years I have wanted to get Core Audio inputs into Pro Tools, to expand my Mbox using the standard interfaces I use for everything else. So I want to use MAX/MSP to build a bridge between Core Audio and Rewire (or RTAS). The finished product would be inserted on a Pro Tools track (and hopefully recorded).

(I've searched extensively on the list but all I see are replies mentioning JACK/SoundFlower or pluggo, neither of which seem to overcome this hurdle.)

Here's what I've tried:

1) An RTAS made with pluggo. But it doesn't have access to ADC so that's not a solution.

2) A simple ADC-DAC patch in MAX with "ad_rewire" selected as the audio driver. This makes it appear on the Rewire busses, ready for Pro Tools, but that doesn't work because MAX stops listening to the Core Audio input.

3) with Jack I can bus between CoreAudio apps and between Core Audio and VST (not RTAS) but that doesn't help bridge this particular gap.

I haven't tried the pluggoBus possibilities within Pluggo but from what I've read it would be impossible to connect to them outside of the pluggo context. I've looked into Supercollider and PD to see if they have Rewire connectivity but they don't.

Any thoughts? (Besides the obvious "Stop using proprietary expensive stuff!")
Thanks -ZLP

Stop using proprie.... oh.

you *might* be able to get this to work with an elaborate setup with a Jack VST plugin in Max rewired into pro tools --- if you have Jack running on a 2nd audio interface that is slaved to the digidesign one via S/PDIF or some other sample-accurate digital audio hardware clock so that there is no clock drift. still, I've never tested this.

The easiest thing to do is use a different DAW :) that supports coreaudio (ie ANY DAW except Pro Tools)
