Creating a listening test - in maxmsp

Hi,
I have a slight problem, I cant seem to word what I am looking for correctly therefore when googling my problem I am getting the wrong answers.

My idea, is problem simple but can someone please help me:
I am currently undergoing a soundscape project in which I have to ask listeners to sit down and listen to sounds and answer questions on what they think they hear.
Maybe have a visual of the sound-waves of the sound.
Is this possible in Maxmsp?

I would like if this is possible, to create a max patch, that would randomly select from my database a track, play that track, the user has an option to replay it once or twice only, until writing down their answers.
Printout should keep a detail of what files have been listened to and data kept on users answers.

Is this possible in maxmsp, can anyone please send me a link where something has already been done, or similar as I keep getting different search engine results, ie the leaving listening exams even though the first words are maxmsp

Hi
You have clearly identified what you want your Max patch to do, now you just need to identify how you're going to do it! Searching this forum with key words related to your idea is a good place to start, for example, soundfile, playback, choose files, user data. This will lead to related solutions hopefully. The documentation is very clear on how certain objects/methods can be used to achieve certain goals - objects are categorised by function, and it's imperative that you read the relevant tutorials too. Right-click on any object in your patch to open a help-file that demonstrates its functions; without giving too much away, look at: [sfplay~], [counter], [select], [umenu], [coll].

Good luck

thought for today: "elitism; don't knock it til you've tried it"

concerning [umenu] and playing the audio files contained in a folder : don't miss the "autopopulate" tab of the help patch.
concerning randomizing, you'll need [urn]
