Creating a multi-sampled instrument?
Hi all,
Firstly, thanks for all the advice ive found here recently. As a student whos never used max before and with a major university project based around max this year, ive found it really helpful.
Heres my question:
How would i go about creating a multi-sampled instrument?
Ideally id like to use some of the stock instruments that come with logic's EXS24 but adapt them for use within max. Or at least just use the samples associated with the EXS24 instruments to build my own sampled instrument.
Would it just be a case of storing all the samples in [buffer~]'s and controlling their playback via [groove~] or [play~] objects?
Any advice?
Stefan made some abstractions that help with this, I used them a bit and they worked rather well for loading and creating multisamplers.
this is a tricky thing, because your basically talking about making a system of mapping loads of samples to respond to different velocity values and ptches, it can be tough, but hopefully stefans objects will get you where you want to go.
Thanks.
I took a look at the files, and being new to max i cant say i can get any of the sample player related ones to work! Sampler~ appears to be useful, but i took a look at the help file and couldnt get any samples to load!

I usually drag and drop, I know I have to look at all these abstractions
a bit closer, I am not completely satisfied with my own work...
I will redo a lot of my abstractions for Max 5, stay tuned...
To get to understand what I do inside, isn't quite addressed for
beginners, best is to start with the tutorials which come with Max anyway...
