Disklavier: keeping the pedal down all the time
I am sending midi notes to the Disklavier but I would need to keep the pedal down all the time. Sending 127 to the clout however does not work: the pedal keeps on resetting itself. Is there a way I could keep the pedal down? Putting a rock on the pedal is not an option,
I think the control number is 64 for hold, are you using 64?
If memory serves, I think the Disklavier uses a a higher resolution than the typical 0-127 range (0-255?). Try using a ctlin object connected to a print object and then physically press and release the pedal on the Disklavier and note the data you receive.
If you want to keep the pedal down, the rock may be your only option…
I can't tell you anymore which MIDI controller is assigned to the pedal (but there is one), but I'm quite sure there is a security timeout for the solenoids in the disklavier: after a couple of seconds (maybe ±30s) keys and pedals are released (the keys are even released before the end of the resonance on the lowest notes!) to avoid overheating.
