Displaying Wingdings or other exotics fonts with Max6

Hi list,
+mast work,
digging deeper thru my Wingdings font displaying problem, I've rad than nativetextrendering act differently with some jitter objects (like jit.lcd and Jit.text.2d) so I made this simple patch to test how various max objects deal with wingdings fonts.
And, surprise ! I finaly saw wingdings font in open GL word. but not much in jit.lcd than in comment, message or text button...
does anybody can test that and tell me if it's the same for him ?
thank you

Max Patch
Copy patch and select New From Clipboard in Max.

Ho, this is interesting, while pasting my copy-compressed patch I notice it's labeled "max5_patcher" ????????

Hi,
it's me,
again.
will anybody have a look at my patch before 2k14.
or just tell why I'm an idiot ?
or not ?
Pleaaaaaaze.

well, Max doesn't support all those fonts - several fonts from your example patch won't work for me. That's all i think!

It worked perfectly with Max5, and it works with jit.text.2d and jit.text.3d !
Opening the same patch in Max5, I don't have any of these problems.
It's obviously a Max6 issue.

oh. Then you'd better send an official bug report to cycling support i guess.

though i must say it doesn"t work in my max5 - i'm on osx 10.6.8

turning on native text rendering helps, however, in max 5. In max 6, as you said, it doesn't. Jitter displays things correctly as you said. So in the end it's quite much as you said.

opus displays a default font
webdings, default in comment message jit and lcd, symbols in jit.gl.text2/3d
wingdings same as webdings
"zapf dingbats" : default font in comment and messages etc, otherwise rectangles.

and the size is changed sometimes with jit.gl.text2d as you noted

So, it seems it's really a Max6 bug.
any cycling developer on line ?

Hello,
Searching for tester with the patch posted on that thread.
I'm looking for a confirmation that the font problem described is
related to the Mac OS version.
The issue is confirmed with 10.6 and 10.7.
Anybody with 10.8 ?

vichug's icon

you should send all the informations you have directly to c74 support mail

Fixrobert's icon

I did.
