Hello,
I got an enttec dmx usb pro and I'm desperately looking for someone who could share a copy of the external object dmxusbpro, since it's not for sale anymore. I am using Max5 but I could also switch to Max4 if necessary. This is for my master project light and sound installation. thanx for your support!
the same to me, just the same.
please guys... anyone outhere who has the object... don´t be stingy... let us have it too!!
or anyone capable of building a max external for enttec device, please, help us... we are some.

Ok, I changed the rules again. Now it can be purchased again but you have to agree to some additional rules. This is probably not lawyer-prove, but might scare off the usual suspects who just try to get everything for free.
Olaf
Fantastic, Olaf !
Thanks :)
finally!! ok, how can we get it?? where can it be purchased? let us know the way please, as in your webpage nothing seems to have changed.
thanks.
That is very helpful. I bought it several years ago and it worked great. Glad you've decided to share it again!
Olaf, thanks so much for offering this very useful object again. I have used it in an installation context in the past and found it to be totally reliable.
With regard to one of the new terms of purchase:
"I understand that the object was thoroughly tested and works on the machines the developer has regular access to. It might not work on my machine. There is no refund in such a case."
I am wondering if you would be willing to publish the list of machines that the object has been tested on, so that future customers can make an educated decision if they decide to go ahead with a purchase.
Thanks!
jesse,
...how many times have I gone to that link you post to see if I could finally get the f****** external...
his webpage still says the same: "dmxusbpro is not available at the moment".
I hope a new link, or way of purchasing will be abailable soon.
very good point about the publishing of the list of his machines... as this is the first external I´ve seen you have to pay for (just let´s imagine aka would have charged his externals... he would have benn rich!!!).
Many web browsers come with a refresh function. You just hit a button, the browser does the rest.
But you're right, it's not ok to charge money for externals, so I'll remove it again (aka. no need to click the refresh button).
Olaf
A very useful external. Glad I got it a long time ago before Olaf removed it. Any interest in selling the source to code to a company willing to support it, Olaf?
dear olaf,
you can feel the power in your hands, can´t you?
you put the rules, change the terms, ignore the mails, offer the external, then remove it.
you can see the interest in your work, but we don´t deserve it, do we? ...well, we have to show you we worth it...
I didn´t mean to say everything is got to be for free. not at all... but all this game goes too far.
I´m sorry for all the other people that wanted to have it, and right now can´t because of my words:
olaf, then you should let them have it, and just not alow me to have it. I´m guilty, they are not.
punish me, don´t punish them.
the name of the movie could be this one: "max punishment: beyond the dmx external"
wow. that is truly pathetic.
A number of externals are sold, they don't cost that much, and if they're useful enough, they're worth every penny and more... just like any good software. In the scheme of things, a few bucks just isn't that much. But having to deal with these hassles probably makes it seem that selling them is more trouble than it's worth.
This is where it can be nice when an established company "buys you out" and takes care of these parts... give you a nice chunk of change for your efforts and let you get back to the fun stuff, if that's what you want, of course. Has Enttec shown any interest in that?
I like the idea of helping out the wizards, even if it's just a token amount. Especially with something like the dmxusbpro, sure it's *possible* to work around it using [serial], but is it worth the effort, hassle, and (probably) much lower performance? No way! Unless you're doing it just to see if you can do it, because you like that sort of thing... that's fine... probably lots of folks on here do, it's a very Max thing to do :)
I'm sorry for the "it's there, it's not there" game. The point is, to seriously support the external 10,- EUR (or the number of sales) is not enough because I'd have to upgrade my Max version, buy a new machine powerful enough to run it and so on.
So the fact that is was available didn't mean that it did cover my costs. At some point in the past Enttec asked me what they could do to make me offer it again. Nicolas from Enttec suggested I should ask C'74 for a free Max5 copy, that's all the support 'they' came up with.
Making a long story short (I already had the long version typed down here but felt it included too many aspects): You don't need to include me in your songs of praise. I know that some people need my externals. I don't need the money because going on with the external(s) would mean to spend even more money on it/them. At some point (while it could not be purchased) I gave the external away for free and asked people to make a donation in case it works. It seems for 90% of the people it didn't work. (I'm not complaining about the money point of it, just about the missing feedback.)
My personal use of Max in the last two years boils down to using Max 4.6 with _one_ of my own externals. All the others are only there because sharing is fun. This means all the work I still put into them is because people using them are nice. It's not about being super nice, just about not being rude. If you ever gave a present to somebody and that person complained "it has the wrong color" you probably know what I'm talking about.
Olaf
I`m so sorry about all this thing, I love the tranquility of max forums... this time it´s not been possible!.
well let´s try it next time and let´s hope that everybody who needs something will find the way to get it, with max everything must be possible!!

Hey guys. I decided to write my own DMX Max External for OSX that utilizes OLA for communication with devices.
Details over here: https://cycling74.com/forums/dmxusbpro-can-i-send-dmx-data-into-max-using-this-device

HI, i'm about to purchase a new dmx interface.
I found a clone of the enttec dmx usb pro which is called DMXking USB DMX512-A
http://www.opendmx.net/index.php/DMXking_USB_DMX512-A
I wondered If this was compatible with dmx usb pro externals.
Did someone ever tried to use this device with max or max for live?
thanks.
If it is a true clone and firmware compatible (as it says it is), then there's no reason to think that the dmxusbpro object wouldn't work.
However, failing that, it is OLA compatible, so you can use the OLA output object linked to above to output dmx from it.
ok, thanks
It's a bit cheaper than Enttec device so I think I will order this Dmxking.
As soon as I get get, I'll try your dmax patches which look pretty useful!
Good to hear! Be sure to email me if you have any feature requests/comments/need help.
so , i wonder if it worked out with dmxking ?
i'm in a need for pc dmx system and just recently dived into max6
so i wonder , is a pc , max6 , max4live , dmxusbpro and an enttec/clone device will work?
i so want it to work...
