Just to be sure, I can't have sfplay~ to play back mp3 encoded sound files. Is it normal?

The doc is not very clear about this, because it says it supports .wav, and (the following is not from the doc) .wav could be an MP3 encoded file...

No it doesn't. You can either use buffer~ and groove~ / play~ or use jit.qt.movie or movie.
