dual audio interfaces?
wanting a second audio out so that i could simultaneously have audio output and monitor cues, i purchased an m-audio transit. of course, it didn't occur to me that it might not be possible to use more than one audio interface at the same time.
looking through the documentation, the msp audio seems to support multiple channels (i assume on the same interface) but not multiple interfaces - is this correct?
if so, is there something i can do with rewire or soundflower to get multiple audio outputs on different physical interfaces (ie the macbook built in headphones and the m-audio transit?) or, do i have to get an audio interface with multiple outputs?! what do people do for this situation (i guess i mistakenly assumed was common..)
best & thanks,
Since it looks from your post that you're on a Mac, the solution is pretty straight forward. Go into your 'Audio MIDI Setup' utility application and choose 'Open agrregate device...' under the Audio menu; the rest should be pretty self-explanatory. Once you've done that, MSP can address any of the audio inputs/outputs in the agrregate device.
brilliant!
thanks again.. i never would have found that option - glad to know its there! i *thought* this should have been possible..
