Elektron A4 CV to Max/MSP
Hello,
I'd like to use the CV track on my Elektron Analog Four synth to control objects (BEAP, etc.) in Max. There is a wealth of information about sending data from Max, but not so much about sending CV to Max. Please advise. Thank you.

depends on your audio interface, many are unipolar, so no negative values for stuff like lfos. analog4 is pretty flexible with cv settings though, so unless you have to send them somewhere else you could set all the bi-polar stuff to somewhere above zero and modulate around that, you'd have to take into account that when you stop modulating them it could put out a constant signal depending on the ending position, mostly you could just subtract that from whatever you plug them into 1st before it goes into anything else.
for some shapes you can set lfos depth so that it will go from 0 to full, you could also try using the lfo to target a cv set to pitch. the other thing you could do is just take the 1/2 of it and flip it in max to get the full value back.
other than that you can mostly treat it as ~ . set it up so you can get the peaks as loud as possible without clipping. or you could set it really low and amplify it to get some nice quantization noise. :)
the cv works fine even as digital oscillators too, if you're careful about volume. also try running it into the a4 and back out 1st. low pass is slew. :)
Thank you, Jonah! This is a great starting point for working with CV in Max with the A4.
