elektron machine drum update max for live patch

i need a device in ableton to allow me complete and precise control over my elektron machinedrum. i'm a n00b to programming, and in some sense have no business attempting to make this device. on the other hand... ef it! i need something no else has made, so i'm going to make it.

there are a few devices that allow control over knobs, but none that update the max for live device to the current location of the parameters. this makes sequencing the hardware in the software unideal.

does the machinedrum send out messages when a new kit is that could update software encoder positions?
can i send a message from max for live to the machinedrum requesting that information?

from what i can tell the machinedrum does not appear to send a blast of midi information when a new kit is loaded. at least not that i can tell.

IIRC the midi to properly control the machinedrum is sysex. And IIRC Ableton Live can't transmit sysex? It's filtered?

You can control all the soundsculpting functions of the Machinedrum with Midi CC´s but you can´t request informations on a kit without sysex, maxforlive can´t handle sysex.

i made a machinedrum controller for the lemur a while back, it has some sysex functionality in there but the lemur can only handle sysex informations up to 4kb and a machinedrum kit with all its informations has more size.

anyway, you´re missing out if you control or sequence the MD from a controller, this thing needs to be touched, that´s why they implemented Parameter locks :)
